Rotary Club of Ipswich Wolsey: Spreading Positivity and Making a difference

Are you tired of the constant barrage of depressing news? Feeling like there’s nothing you can do but contribute to the negativity? Well, think again! You have the power to improve lives, starting with your own, by lending a helping hand to those in need.

Who Are We?

We are the Rotary Club of Ipswich Wolsey, a diverse team of volunteers, men and women, dedicated to making a positive impact on the world. While our mission is serious, our approach is filled with fun and camaraderie. We welcome members from all nationalities, and we are strictly non-political.

What Do We Do?

As part of a global organisation committed to humanitarian service, we work tirelessly to improve lives at the local, national, and international levels. How do we achieve this? By giving our time, support, and resources to various projects that make a real difference.

Local Impact:

  • Attend our meeting in Ipswich on the 2nd and 4th Monday evening of the Month.
  • Contributing to ‘Crucial Crew,’ teaching 10/11-year-olds essential life skills.
  • Providing ‘Dictionaries for Life‘ to local school children.
  • Assisting disabled children/adults through ‘Sailability‘ to learn to sail.
  • Sponsoring young adults 18 -26 for a 7-day RYLA  (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) program, promoting youth development.
  • Financially supporting local charities, including the ‘Families in Need‘ food bank.

Funding Our Initiatives:

Contrary to popular belief, our members don’t empty their pockets. We raise funds through events like Golf Days, Quiz Nights, and Cycling Events. The buzz of appreciation we receive fuels our commitment. Trusted by other organisations, we also marshal events, adding to our usable funds.

International Impact:

Collaborating with ‘Lend with Care‘ to provide small business loans in Third World countries, creating jobs.
Supporting projects in The Gambia, including a Medical Centre and an Infant School dining area.
Globally, providing emergency shelter and aid through ‘Shelter Box‘ for families in natural disasters.

Eradicating Polio:

Over 30 years, Rotary Groups worldwide have funded polio vaccinations, nearly eliminating Polio outbreaks. With the support of the World Health Organisation and Bill Gates, we’re doubling down on our efforts.

Get Involved:
